Indexing – 

Search Engine bot finds entered keywords from a database, indexing in the database is similar to books index. Once a page is crawled, the next thing is to index content. In a giant database, an indexed page is stored

Retrieving – 

When a search request comes, the search engine processes it i.e. it juxtaposes the search string in the search request with the indexed pages in the database.  Retrieving the results is the last step in search engines’ activity. That is simply displaying them in the browser – i.e. the endless pages of search results. These pages are sorted from the most relevant to the least relevant sites. As you have read above that page of the result is SERP
